I BUY LOCAL
Do you shop local? Buying local is not a new concept but we need to join together and reflect on how we can help make our community and province stronger. As larger national and internatinal corporations get bigger and our smaller entrepreneurs get smaller or close up their shops, we need to work together to change how we do business in order to support our own people.
It's important to support and invest in independent, locally owned businesses. It helps to strengthen our community base. By protecting our unique businesses and products, we create and sustain local jobs for our people. Smaller businesses are more interested in your needs and interests and give you better customer service.
Jon Butler and Abu Sayed, co-founded the ibuylocal initiative in downtown this summer which was created to inspire people to shop locally. As part of this initiative, they have created I Buy Local t-shirts which are for sale at a cost of $30. These shirts are available in ladies and men's sizes and are available at various downtown shops. These shirts represent your pride and connection to the our community and when you wear this shirt you are making a statement that you believe in the value of buying local and encourage others to do the same. Let's all do our part and shop local!
